We are thrilled to announce that our ‘Wee Laird’ Barrel Aged Scottish Wee Heavy won Gold and secured ‘Best in Show’ in the Canada Beer Cup on Oct 23, 2022! Against over 200 other breweries across Canada and 1,300 other entires, this is one special beer! Named for “Laird of Fintry”, the Single-Malt Whisky produced by Okanagan Spirits, this beer spent 10 months aging in barrels and developed beautiful, complex notes of caramel, vanilla, and oak, with a smooth warming finish. We sadly don’t have any bottles remaining but we did hold on to a small keg of it that we’ll be releasing on tap in our tasting room in November. Keep an eye on our social channels for that announcement!
We also won Gold for our ‘Cuban Taxi’ Guava Gose! Inspired by our 2017 trip to Cuba, this super refreshing Gose is generously blended with guava. A bit tart with a hint of salt, it has strong tropical fruit notes on the nose and pallet, luscious mouthfeel, and a tingly, bright finish. We do have this one available in the tasting room, on tap at The Lunch Lady on Commercial Drive, and in cans at several private liquor store locations.
And last but certainly not least, our ‘In Bloom’ Lambic won Bronze! Mixed culture fermentation aged for two years in chardonnay barrels, this is a very challenging beer to make, to achieve the right balance of culture and flavour over time. She surprised us with her delicate tasting notes and uniqueness.
Looking forward to receiving these awards at the BC Craft Brewers Conference in November!
